Social Media Awareness – Parent Presentation

Date:  Monday, May 8th
Time:  6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Location:  St. John’s School Gym

Speaker:  Lt. Lovelace of the Nebraska State Patrol

The presentation entitled “Internet Crime Against Children”. will touch on the variety of social media apps and the dangers it presents to children.  Lt. Lovelace will touch on cyber bullying, trafficking, sexual assault, pornography, ways to keep kids safe, and specific cases he has worked.  He has done this talk for many years to many different audiences, including schools.  This presentation is best for only parents, but students above 12 could be present.

Uniform Shorts and Skirt Requirements

All shorts should be 2” above the knee or longer. Skirts are expected to be no more than 2 inches above the knee.  If the skirt cannot meet these requirements, the student has options. She can wear dress code shorts or pants as one option. She could also continue to wear leggings under the skirt until a skirt that meets the requirements can be found. We realize that by this age students often are in charge of their own morning routines and try to make these decisions independently. We appreciate your help in checking that your child is making choices that keep them within the dress code.

Below are links to stores that sell school uniform items…
You are welcome to shop at ANY store.  Please make sure all items are dress code approved.  Dress code available here:  Dress Code | St Patrick’s Catholic School (stpatricklincolnschool.com)

One Day Without Shoes

One Day Without Shoes:  St. Patrick School will be participating in a service project to provide shoes for the needy in our community.  Sponsored by Cornhusker Bank, collection bins will be brought to school to collect shoes that you would like to donate.  All kinds and sizes of shoes will be accepted, even if they are dirty, worn out, or have holes in them.  Shoes that are unusable are sold for recycling material.  Those that are in good condition are given to People’s City Mission.  To donate, send them to school with your children from April 3rd – April 15th.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Neujahr at diane-neujahr@cdolinc.net.  Thank you for supporting such a good cause.

Lost and Found

There are quite a few items currently on the Lost and Found Table.  Please check or have your child check the table for any missing items.  Any items not claimed by the end of the school year will be donated.

May Crowning

For centuries, the Catholic Church has set aside the entire month of May to honor Mary, Mother of God. We plan to crown Mary, Our Mother, Monday May 1st during the 8:00 school mass.

Students, and anyone attending mass that day, may bring fresh, unwrapped flowers to lay before Mary as we process in to mass that day.

*Students may wear blue on top with uniform bottoms to honor Mary this day.  All tops should have sleeves, no holes, hoods, or crop-tops please.

CSS Food Truck

Catholic Social Services (CSS) has partnered with the Food Bank of Lincoln to provide healthy choice options for our school families at no cost!

The CSS Food Market Truck will be here Tuesday April 18th at pick up – all families are welcome to take groceries home.

SCRIP

What is Scrip? “Scrip” turns everyday shopping into cash for the St. Patrick Church and School. Purchase gift cards at face value in advance to use at checkout, instead of paying with credit, debit card, check or cash.

How Does It Work? Purchase gift cards at face value from local merchants who designate their own discount percentage ranging from 1.5% to 30%. The discount amount translates to profit for the St. Patrick!

  • $50 Marcus Theatres gift card at 8% = $4 St. Patrick profit
  • $100 Walmart gift card at 2.% = $2.50 St. Patrick profit

Click here for the SCRIP order form.  SCRIP can be purchased at the parish office or after weekend masses.

We’re excited to share that our school is participating in Cash for Classrooms, part of Casey’s Rewards. This opens up St. Patrick School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students.
The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you buy from Casey’s and use their rewards program you can simply turn your points into a donation to our school.
Help St. Patrick School make the most of this program and learn more at Caseys.com/schools.
